Sawubona’s mission is to provide customers with quality and long-lasting homewares while improving African artisans' well-being and quality of life, their families and their communities. We have an ambitious goal of supporting 1 million African artisans in 10 years and we believe that we can reach that goal with your help.

OUR SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ETHOS

We support Sustainable Development Goal 1: ‘End poverty in all its forms everywhere’ and SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing. We recognise that poverty is still a global threat and its even more severe in developing countries. UN says that an estimated119-124 million people were pushed into extreme poverty in 2020 and even more will be pushed into poverty due to Climate change. We believe that it is through initiatives like this that make sure no one is left behind. In this case, families can fend for themselves and what a better way than through their own artisan skills. MEET THE ARTISANS

Our collections are made by talented artisans that fuse culture, unique raw materials and traditional craftsmanship skills to make practical, yet elegant and timeless pieces. Their creations are a way for them to connect with their culture and community but also make an income for their families. Currently, we are working with 60 artisans and that number is growing.
